<div style="text-align: center;">
In January 2015, I started making these pineapple blocks. It was almost an obsession for several months. A bunch of blocks were made.... 30 blocks to be exact. I started with a red center to keep it consistent, then any and everything except the kitchen sink 1 1/2" strips from my scrappy bins. The blocks ended up around 12". </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here it is being quilted back in June 2015. I quilted an all over feathers on it.</div>

This quilt is my third finished for 2016. I haven't blogged about my second finished for the year yet as the quilt is for my LQS Spring Fling shop hop. This Scrappilicious Pineapple is also on my <a href="http://doxiesonmyquilt.blogspot.com/2016/01/2016-finish-long.html" target="_blank">FAL 2016 list.</a> I'm also linking this post to <a href="http://mrsssewandsow.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/scraptastic-tuesday-february-link-up.html" target="_blank">Scraptastic Tuesday</a>.<br />

See you next time,<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My quilting plan for this week is to work on the bindings of three quilts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. Hand sewing in process... half way done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhanrCkBbruejh8HjYTb7QgQkwL2Oe6-VgsEscS7uTp_uYm6ju5e6QFDO-sSRV3TVEGxpJuo6fAPHqcaoG0-9NrmblOrAYBfc88VhjQyV6ryTQv7ZrzRHbaSXUz-AzRNIJSe7LcOxR70QW_/s1600/9patch+binding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhanrCkBbruejh8HjYTb7QgQkwL2Oe6-VgsEscS7uTp_uYm6ju5e6QFDO-sSRV3TVEGxpJuo6fAPHqcaoG0-9NrmblOrAYBfc88VhjQyV6ryTQv7ZrzRHbaSXUz-AzRNIJSe7LcOxR70QW_/s320/9patch+binding.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. I'm planning to do this one all on the machine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr7S8iT6AZsZty6rITll-6WUIkcklnjrnHMzQ-UR2gVdcMBMft4bMa3SupXnER-h87KNd1bt8k5wxknIne-uo8JFYus3evwqqxrjvqEaB2kEeXC4ISaatPgDOXIUVBunsfFoYC3qmb0YGX/s1600/tulip+path+binding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr7S8iT6AZsZty6rITll-6WUIkcklnjrnHMzQ-UR2gVdcMBMft4bMa3SupXnER-h87KNd1bt8k5wxknIne-uo8JFYus3evwqqxrjvqEaB2kEeXC4ISaatPgDOXIUVBunsfFoYC3qmb0YGX/s320/tulip+path+binding.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Well, I don't have a photo of the third one, but the binding strips are cut.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All of these quilts are on my <a href="http://doxiesonmyquilt.blogspot.com/2016/01/2016-finish-long.html" target="_blank">FAL (Finish-A-Long) list</a> - #7, #1, and #2 respectively.<br />
Woohoo ... can't wait to get them done and check off my list.<br />
<br />
Blessings,<br />

<img alt="grab button for A Quilter's Table" src="http://pdf.aquilterstable.com/2016FALbutton250best.jpg" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have you heard of FAL or Finish-A-Long? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, I have joined the 2016 FAL for two main reasons. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One is to stay focus and finish my projects; two is to get back to writing and journaling my quilting journey on a regular basis on this blog.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since last week, I have spent a few hours looking through different sites and found this Finish-A-Long. I think this low key challenge is the key (haha) to keep me motivated. There's no penalty if I don't get my projects done, and there are prizes involved.... gotta love that! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm linking up with the 2016 FAL host. This is my list for the first quarter.<br />
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizASMsJtwvxy7yzhkrML2mfqShShLa4QnQAM0FJRxviWjbSetqR2Z3AJDCpMUSthmQKGdduJOXEhvOz-rnVL_YxbmRhb4E4GwssMqaevdYPah2UGo1dvpSYHO90kNS34qBLQq7E6_Bd2Tg/s1600/spring+fling+fabrics.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="121" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizASMsJtwvxy7yzhkrML2mfqShShLa4QnQAM0FJRxviWjbSetqR2Z3AJDCpMUSthmQKGdduJOXEhvOz-rnVL_YxbmRhb4E4GwssMqaevdYPah2UGo1dvpSYHO90kNS34qBLQq7E6_Bd2Tg/s320/spring+fling+fabrics.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. I'm designing a quilt for my LQS for the Spring Fling shop hop coming up at the end of February/early March. I can't show the pattern just yet. This collection (except for the green) is Sundress by Meg Hawkey for Red Rooster Fabrics.</div>

This scrappy pineapple quilt still needs binding. I started this one last January. Here it is on the quilting machine back in June 2015. </div>

HAPPY 2016!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Seriously, I can't believe that it's been almost 3 years since my last post! Time flies! Many things happened and many quilts and projects were done... Oh, but where to begin... so why not just jump right back in and start right where I am.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Back in October 2015, my LQS received the new Moda First Crust Valentine's collection, and I fell in love. I picked up a Jelly Roll, a background, and Heartstrings pattern. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Started working on the blocks....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihKQolufTueum8GsEJ2bm-OaX9fge-GrfbcH86Ba63dZ_h8wVSJobQU995dCQfBBdF9bq4UBFh5j3o-g4xp1rgnKF105AbAiNg6X_bJvKo0zxZO1OTsUL-n5KRZMRa-DkDz-2Xa4SO97iM/s1600/heartstrings+blocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihKQolufTueum8GsEJ2bm-OaX9fge-GrfbcH86Ba63dZ_h8wVSJobQU995dCQfBBdF9bq4UBFh5j3o-g4xp1rgnKF105AbAiNg6X_bJvKo0zxZO1OTsUL-n5KRZMRa-DkDz-2Xa4SO97iM/s320/heartstrings+blocks.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This Heartstrings pattern worked up quickly and easily, soon it turned into a top. In December, I took it to the shop and quilted it. My LQS (Quilter's Cocoon) has a Handi Quilter for rent there, but since I work there, they let me used it cause I wanted Surfin' Hearts quilting on this quilt. I love my LQS; they are so good to me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx89K4eI9A2VWINSkMRlMi4SrQCrZux_kAkZY2Q3HA2_o8NNtOvbBjlY_kdfGZs5NNM9RldcGvq-BvuqnhpGckokkEaq4qMmFjeDqSvtuBGRHBvpJrQnV8_-9rCID8a1QwF3qnOgAaMMhW/s1600/heartstrings+top.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx89K4eI9A2VWINSkMRlMi4SrQCrZux_kAkZY2Q3HA2_o8NNtOvbBjlY_kdfGZs5NNM9RldcGvq-BvuqnhpGckokkEaq4qMmFjeDqSvtuBGRHBvpJrQnV8_-9rCID8a1QwF3qnOgAaMMhW/s320/heartstrings+top.jpg" width="234" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The quilt sat through the holidays until last week... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
.... then binding on...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
...... and finish! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEietKEeku_FPnJNW4D5fo0BvwQugnmJcCevlt-ieLteCZ17aGtYDnw4uGsURSi65_-la9YTUbFESelSAjC3g0qxfF-NWsZGlG9mVgvI4abpoz0MdR4WYVRDaKFQbCzmw6UPOWEtQ_-bs6HE/s1600/heartstrings+finished.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEietKEeku_FPnJNW4D5fo0BvwQugnmJcCevlt-ieLteCZ17aGtYDnw4uGsURSi65_-la9YTUbFESelSAjC3g0qxfF-NWsZGlG9mVgvI4abpoz0MdR4WYVRDaKFQbCzmw6UPOWEtQ_-bs6HE/s320/heartstrings+finished.jpg" width="268" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I make lots of samples for Quilter's Cocoon, so this quilt will get to go to Road to California next week. I hope this will help them sell all of the collection.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is another Heartstrings quilt (shop sample) with Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Cute huh? I didn't make the top, but I did quilted and bound the quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCvVGQmr8jhTzzkOZEug6N6ScAVg31JDqNZC7jBvl2O8N9F8zt15CzfHs0ekYJPBPE-ouRfHpRAbFMmC-ynzcg-ZpQz7nOpW2mjzMbQSGEDrCzAyZm95PdhqHxp_oq3MTVzkTU8xjxwNMK/s1600/Kaffe+heartstrings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCvVGQmr8jhTzzkOZEug6N6ScAVg31JDqNZC7jBvl2O8N9F8zt15CzfHs0ekYJPBPE-ouRfHpRAbFMmC-ynzcg-ZpQz7nOpW2mjzMbQSGEDrCzAyZm95PdhqHxp_oq3MTVzkTU8xjxwNMK/s320/Kaffe+heartstrings.jpg" width="258" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this is the pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyREezRgriFNhmV7xa7WpAWPqNlFT9eo5TWhWuKtoy4dlPCb5RCaSpnWRJj9ygAIHA4MrpyxoM8S32McFngwTNOtoqPziOYQAP-emyJ9aLDbk71N6F5c_vNuqxnU2T0SO1t7Qh03jhNGGo/s1600/heartstrings+cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyREezRgriFNhmV7xa7WpAWPqNlFT9eo5TWhWuKtoy4dlPCb5RCaSpnWRJj9ygAIHA4MrpyxoM8S32McFngwTNOtoqPziOYQAP-emyJ9aLDbk71N6F5c_vNuqxnU2T0SO1t7Qh03jhNGGo/s200/heartstrings+cover.jpg" width="132" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to add this last picture of my cat, Tiger. He loves to keep me company while I sew. Perfect place to take a cat nap don't you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ahhh.... it feels good to be back!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
See you again soon,</div>

<span style="font-size: large;">One day, back in early December, one of my student's daughter showed me her dimensional star pillow that she made in a class that she recently took. She explained how it was done, and I quickly made one for DD#2 and one for my friend.</span> </div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Last Thursday I quilted this using the longarm at the </span><a href="http://www.quilterscocoon.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: large;">shop</span></a><span style="font-size: large;">. This quilt top languished in my closet for toooo long, since 2004... I think. Originally, I had planned to hand quilt it with Baptist Fans after I'm done hand quilting another project. But that project got put away and has been languishing for me to come back to it too. So when I discovered that there's a Baptist Fan pattern on the machine in the shop, it's time to get this puppy out of the closet and get it on the finish list.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one is for my younger sister. The pattern is Stack-N-Whack Fan that I got a long time ago. Fabric: Holiday Elegance collection by Moda. I started this quilt three weeks before Christmas mainly because I couldn't think of a gift for her and thought it's time for her to recieve a quilt from me. It was a lot of pressure to make a quilt in December, but I did managed to get it done in a couple of weeks.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This second quilt is for my MIL. When she had some health issues and was hospitalized earlier in the year, I thought a quilt would cheer her up.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The quilt is made from printed flower panels or "cheater prints" with Bible verses. All I did was cut the squares apart, add sashings and cornerstones, and borders. The quilt was done at the end of summer except for sewing the binding to the back which I did finished on Christmas Day. My MIL was very happy and appreciative to receive the quilt as she is also a quilter. </div>

Here he is with some of the grandkids, grandnephews, and grandnieces who were able to attended. <br /><div>As far as quilting goes, not a whole lot was done during the first half of 2010 because after the passing of my BIL in 10/2009, my own hubby had some health issues so all of my energies were focused on him. I'm happy to report that he's recovered and doing well now.</div>
<br /><div></div>
<br /><div>Of course, I jumped back into quilting again... but more on that later.</div>

<br /><div>I hope some of you are still with me and that I'm not talking to myself. :-D </div>
<br /><div>Also, I apologized for not answering the emails coming from this blog. I do thank you for all your concerns. For now, I'm coming back slowly and will share with you some of my projects soon.</div>

This time around there were 3 students: Cindy, Ann, and Linda. They did a wonderful job with their class projects. We worked on making a pillow top and a pincushion.<br /><br />The first photo is Cindy who just started quilting about 2 months ago. She said that she's been sewing all her life starting with making Barbie doll clothes, and her first quilt was a king sized quilt. Awesome! The second photo is Ann who is a seasoned quilter. I love the colors in the Layer Cake collection that she used.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiegfWRH4ePrs2a6cJsn0EBDFbQl8aFkF3Nl4YY2rfts8EJB4z0fCQDrAynELWV6uqIUzwl0NmIzZmDNM-4UsHUeJYB2nKK1z_fJqnQ-AJVySwL7OOSyPQ7y4eZvwp9m5hJCtAgSWa54ffO/s1600-h/october+076.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394509716188757762" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiegfWRH4ePrs2a6cJsn0EBDFbQl8aFkF3Nl4YY2rfts8EJB4z0fCQDrAynELWV6uqIUzwl0NmIzZmDNM-4UsHUeJYB2nKK1z_fJqnQ-AJVySwL7OOSyPQ7y4eZvwp9m5hJCtAgSWa54ffO/s320/october+076.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5xSKOx54DpBFE9bmmtb0yQ4qglNL12TK-afZqW1jSRllANHxuqVEiXvw-R7P8J0Ol0UDtz5QOb5CqbJhJoYE4569aSRAI4om4BO3R2RY_BcAHsfaZa9aTmxF6k-27CCXRHIpPCz6Qqo6J/s1600-h/october+077.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394509706542265250" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5xSKOx54DpBFE9bmmtb0yQ4qglNL12TK-afZqW1jSRllANHxuqVEiXvw-R7P8J0Ol0UDtz5QOb5CqbJhJoYE4569aSRAI4om4BO3R2RY_BcAHsfaZa9aTmxF6k-27CCXRHIpPCz6Qqo6J/s320/october+077.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />This is Linda; she the last one to pack up for the day but did got her pillow top done. As it turn out, I didn't have to teach it because there weren't enough people sign up for the Thursday class as most of the students wanted to take the Saturday class. </div><br /><div>When I teach, I like to prepare some of the steps ahead of time to show the students.... fabrics cut, partial block assembled, a couple of full blocks done. And since someone else is teaching the Sat. class, I decided to pull more fabrics, cut, sew more blocks, then a quilt top. Afterall, it's time for a new couch quilt. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoAfYdmJBuGW2zB25F693znqGod0nJMaT_yfJMAkgFvn5jZd9rFFNBzntdAAJVGVlXkXZhZVN6_MiwqeOQPT5vSmZm-CYFYTpte7oskkTkgB2k-u46gRr7sWur1_8-KbQ6Q7DC68RkQy-R/s1600-h/luckystars+points.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393073922280508354" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 134px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoAfYdmJBuGW2zB25F693znqGod0nJMaT_yfJMAkgFvn5jZd9rFFNBzntdAAJVGVlXkXZhZVN6_MiwqeOQPT5vSmZm-CYFYTpte7oskkTkgB2k-u46gRr7sWur1_8-KbQ6Q7DC68RkQy-R/s200/luckystars+points.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoAfYdmJBuGW2zB25F693znqGod0nJMaT_yfJMAkgFvn5jZd9rFFNBzntdAAJVGVlXkXZhZVN6_MiwqeOQPT5vSmZm-CYFYTpte7oskkTkgB2k-u46gRr7sWur1_8-KbQ6Q7DC68RkQy-R/s1600-h/luckystars+points.JPG"></a> </div><div>The pattern is called Lucky Stars by Atkins Design ?? Has it been several weeks since my last post?!! This time of the year is always a busy time for me. The kiddos are back-to-school and have settled in with their newly routines. My Buddy is a senior and Sweetie Pie is in 6th grade this year. That means I will have two graduates in 9 months. I know the time will pass by soon enough.... so I am preparing myself mentally for it now. It seemed just yesterday that they were just starting Kindergarten....*sigh*<br /><br /><br />Anyway, not a whole lot of sewing being done here as my part-time job at a retail store is picking up. I'm putting in LOTS more hours there and expected that it probably will be that way until after the Holidays.<br /><br /><br />Over the summer, I signed up with the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/dollquiltswap/">Doll Quilt Swap 7</a> swap. LOL </div><br /><div></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyUJCXH8QCx0UTTxAMKCudfdlLFO7hzSgXRp7yFDxXlZO01R5KF4wmfRAvOVUp8qS_heu7Yv_zlNZ6u3SnsdgM-res0YblATFVHJRbBZEst7MiTv235T4IvaZylNUYd-rI8VyNxnqnNq4l/s1600-h/2nd+block+peek.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371891141480541698" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 134px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyUJCXH8QCx0UTTxAMKCudfdlLFO7hzSgXRp7yFDxXlZO01R5KF4wmfRAvOVUp8qS_heu7Yv_zlNZ6u3SnsdgM-res0YblATFVHJRbBZEst7MiTv235T4IvaZylNUYd-rI8VyNxnqnNq4l/s200/2nd+block+peek.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Not wanting this quilt to be a 10 yrs. project... ok, maybe cut it down to 5yrs... *lol* I pulled the project back out a couple of weeks ago to continue on this second block that was started back in February. I usually like to applique in the evening during my down time, but I've been too tired to work on it. Instead, I bring the block along to Sweetie Pie's tennis lessons during the week. Well not much was done there either because I ended up watching the kids practiced.... So maybe it will be a 10yrs. project afterall. lol</div><div> <br /></div><div>This quilt will be for me, and for some reasons I can never stay on task making things for me. Therefore, I'm hoping that some nice bloggy friends will help keep me going. OK?</div><div> <br /></div><div>Oh... one more thing, I decided to go with this robin egg's blue background because last summer, while stocking up more Kona Snow fabric, I came across this new Kona Robin Egg's blue that I fell in love with and had to have yardages of it without a plan for it. Then, when Aunt Millie's Garden came along, I just have to use it. :o)</div><div> <br /></div></div>Rhondahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07161833256604099231noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1945071112060219408.post-56465621950493530242009-08-16T06:44:00.000-07:002009-08-16T07:51:06.436-07:00Tumbleweeds<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLAVx7uvQMxHu6TUgRoYeTUBFxU73NWbY_lrXPqvhh3P4Nwr_2Lbjn5DDQSdfUAARhMYP4b_UPoKMrxZ-sx3EJqrENJsWuRPq8w-I0IhX6x_dMoGB0_OhsJVk4rP3W7Bj6lWPPGWu9tq89/s1600-h/units.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370544267199715570" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 140px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLAVx7uvQMxHu6TUgRoYeTUBFxU73NWbY_lrXPqvhh3P4Nwr_2Lbjn5DDQSdfUAARhMYP4b_UPoKMrxZ-sx3EJqrENJsWuRPq8w-I0IhX6x_dMoGB0_OhsJVk4rP3W7Bj6lWPPGWu9tq89/s200/units.JPG" border="0" /></a> This whole blogging thing sure has been taking the back seat lately.</div><div><br /></div><div>I took this photo on the left on Monday to show you my progress and now just finally got around to posting it. I wanted to share with you that I was done with all the paper piecing on the shop sample WIP, and I was very excited to start putting the units together.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Well, I couldn't contained the excitement of finally getting the top together, so every chance I got was spent on sewing. This is the result... </div><div><br /><br /></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370544429103276850" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 391px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1FKXF8tMjhWLGtKcC0gFFtNhykJQhTL2LDYXTIzWgrbMck3UcTTWPTwR9aAD1HzDFCgbCxhbujM67GKhT7UXOh-dXs36z8S_nybGPmK2tJKoRH5LA8Yc7F848uvRk4YcgPr-FPKGig3TI/s400/Tumbleweeds.JPG" border="0" /></div><br /><p>This pattern is called <a href="htthttp://www.quiltworx.com/index.php?cmd=browsep://">Tumbleweeds</a> by <a href="http://www.quiltworx.com/">Judy Niemeyer</a>.</p><p>The colors are washed out in the photo. In person, the colors are more vibrant. One thing that I like to change is the background fabric in that swirl in the top left corner. I was concerned that it might be too dark when I was sewing the top together.... I was right..... picture shows all.... that swirl practically jumps out at you. Although, it doesn't show as much in person as in the photo.</p><p>Oh well, not much I can do with it now. The top is done! ... was dropped off yesterday at the shop for the quilting. I should be getting it back sometimes next week to put the binding on.</p><p>Overall, this quilt was a challenge but doable if you have a few quilts under your belt. It involves lots of foundation piecing, curve piecing, and my least favorite part... partial seams piecing. Don't get me wrong.... I love the partial seams technique when it's done in small sizes like a quilt block. However, putting the whole quilt top together using the partial seams technique was definitely a challenge for me. But I persevered... and happy that I did because the result is a great looking quilt. :o)</p><p> </p><p> </p>Rhondahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07161833256604099231noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1945071112060219408.post-19639839051641208132009-08-02T22:07:00.000-07:002009-08-02T22:40:54.320-07:00Zig ZagYesterday, I took a break from paper piecing the shop sample (see last post) to work on this little quilt for the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/dollquiltswap">Doll Quilt Swap 7</a>. I've been "spying" on my secret partner's favorite list over on Flickr and found that our likes are very similiar to each other.<br /><br />So off I went searching on the net for some inspirations, came across this <a href="http://beesquarefabrics.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-make-zig-zag-quilt-without.html">zig zag tutorial</a>, thought it's perfect, purchased some fabrics, and made this in a few hours.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRqopywMEF94AmdnsUD6onzL4CEdebKeZUJI-HxVCxCxro9UQdfbyxmfIyNm55dMv-16WbNyDuwX5CVdlawd3J8nUjuclve8-oOJf2GtJwlnLH76Ay7HB8QGlWWfezTjIXB2_dy9uSPm2N/s1600-h/zig+zag+for+dqs7.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365584555479341394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 271px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRqopywMEF94AmdnsUD6onzL4CEdebKeZUJI-HxVCxCxro9UQdfbyxmfIyNm55dMv-16WbNyDuwX5CVdlawd3J8nUjuclve8-oOJf2GtJwlnLH76Ay7HB8QGlWWfezTjIXB2_dy9uSPm2N/s320/zig+zag+for+dqs7.JPG" border="0" /></a> What do you think? I didn't measured it, but I think it's about 12" x 15".<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghwaqr98YkmBI9Z__afQVfrnTsX5c6lWuZryUBh_AEYjqXBuYWMvL3lzHWczBEfSlg1PzQrXeMgEgGb-VJSb-fI_KqRQ0uvLNelsvdPz2PNabcsw4K4dLHeMjivb1n61GAWb_RldcnHBtc/s1600-h/zig+zag+blocks.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365585367804341506" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 166px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghwaqr98YkmBI9Z__afQVfrnTsX5c6lWuZryUBh_AEYjqXBuYWMvL3lzHWczBEfSlg1PzQrXeMgEgGb-VJSb-fI_KqRQ0uvLNelsvdPz2PNabcsw4K4dLHeMjivb1n61GAWb_RldcnHBtc/s200/zig+zag+blocks.JPG" border="0" /></a>The <a href="http://beesquarefabrics.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-make-zig-zag-quilt-without.html">tutorial</a> is from <a href="http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/">AmandaJean at Crazy Mom Quilts</a>. I think it's simply genius! don't you think so too? A zig zag quilt WITHOUT sewing any triangles. It's strip pieced and cut into squares. It's all in the layout of the blocks that formed the zigzag.<br /><br />Of course, I have to make a doll-sized quilt, so I started out with smaller width of strips... 1-1/2". I see future quilts with this pattern but big, sleep under, wrap around, cozy kinda quilts. :0)<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghwaqr98YkmBI9Z__afQVfrnTsX5c6lWuZryUBh_AEYjqXBuYWMvL3lzHWczBEfSlg1PzQrXeMgEgGb-VJSb-fI_KqRQ0uvLNelsvdPz2PNabcsw4K4dLHeMjivb1n61GAWb_RldcnHBtc/s1600-h/zig+zag+blocks.JPG"></a>Rhondahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07161833256604099231noreply@blogger.com9
