Singer Featherweight

I have been playing on Ebay and won this little cutie! ;-D

The machine looks good, and it came with a lot of accessories which I will have fun trying them out. However, I haven't try sewing on the machine yet because it does not have a manual with it. In my excitement of bidding, I forgot to ask. :[ I have only turn on the machine and run it. The light is working, sounds great... it's quiet, and it has a new belt and been serviced. Overall, I think I got a good deal.

With a little bit of research, I found that my machine was made in Elizabeth, New Jersey, from 1948 to 1950.

It's been fun playing on Ebay, but it's a bit dangerous to my financial pocket. There are plenty of things to bid for, and it is easily to get carry away. So I better stay away from ebay for awhile... well, maybe just one more time, afterall, I need the manual right? He he

You may find a manual online. Try Googling it. There are Featherweight books with the manual in it. Featherweight 221: The Perfect Portable by Nancy Johnson-Srebro is an excellent book. The manual is in the book.

Enjoy your featherweight! Must give her a name! My Featherweight goes by the name of Baby.

I can see that I shouldn't have just given into impulse when I bid on mine. Yours is so much nicer. I hope you love it. I just printed up a manual online, also, there is a yahoo group for featherweights that you might enjoy.

I hope you love her a lot.

What a lovely Featherweight. You can join the Featherweight Yahoo group for great help and information. Check with www.221parts.com for an operator manual. I think you can also download one from Singer.

Ohh aren't you lucky. I love singer sewing machines (I have five dated from early 1900's onwards) and am always on the lookout for a feather weight. Either they are as rare as hens teeth here in Australia or I'm looking in the wrong places. Still I'm enjoying the hunt...vbg.

On one of the lists I am on, they said that with the serial number you could find out the exact date under a phone number. Not sure what the phone number is however.
